Vince Cable, Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, visits OC Robotics

During his visit the Business Secretary saw the latest snake-arm robot systems which boast significant performance increases over previous models, including a 10 to 50 fold increase in time between service intervals and up to an 80% decrease in maintenance costs.

The team explained how material developments in the last 12 months had underpinned OC Robotics larger, high performance systems. This progress was a critical component to achieving repeat overseas sales.

The Business Secretary viewed the TBM JetSnake system in operation. The system was used in the Miami Port Authority tunnelling project. An upgraded TBM JetSnake will be part of the record breaking tunnelling project to construct a 4.2km undersea road tunnel in Hong Kong.

The Business Secretary said “I’ve learned here just what a small innovative high tech company with imaginative entrepreneurs and advanced skills can accomplish”.
