Working in partnership with Salvarem (part of the Nuvia group), OC Robotics successfully demonstrated the remote handling capability of our snake-arm robot to Areva NC in France. The snake-arm was deployed into a number of mock-ups, performing a variety of tasks applicable to the decommissioning sector.

OC Robotics and TWI Ltd have joined forces to integrate a 5kW fibre laser into a flexible Explorer snake-arm robot. This combination of technologies enables a remote-controlled selective approach to dismantling and decommissioning in confined spaces, with the ability to cut thick steel and concrete with minimal reaction forces.

OC Robotics is pleased to announce the signing of a new contract to provide a snake-arm robot capability demonstration to Sellafield Ltd. This first-of-its-kind demonstration for Sellafield will include two snake-arms, deployed using OC Robotics’ Rail&Rotate platform. The snake-arms will transport a range of end effectors into a purpose-built cell mock-up to demonstrate various decommissioning and inspection capabilities.
