Mechanical design engineer

Salary: negotiable

OC Robotics, based in Bristol, UK, is the world leader in snake-arm robot R&D, design and manufacture. Our current active market sectors are nuclear, aerospace, defence and medical.

We need an experienced mechanical design engineer with strong intuitive and analytical engineering skills to join our team, to take a lead design role in new snake-arm robot projects.

You must have:

• Outstanding, proven mechanical engineering design skills
• An excellent ability to think and design in 3D
• Strong experience of using 3D CAD systems
• Good written and verbal communication skills

Experience of some of the following would be an advantage:

• Design of robotic/servo machinery or other complex mechanisms
• Design of closely integrated mechanical and electronic designs
• Functional specification of electronic and software subsystems and liaison with relevant specialists in these fields
• Selection of manufacturing techniques & materials
• Specification development
• FEA (stand-alone or CAD-embedded) for component analysis, and interpretation of FE results
