Welcome to OC Robotics

Robotics is set to play a significant role in the 21^st century. We have the computing power, the world is flattening, we have a looming demographic crisis and the face of warfare has changed. Concerns and aspirations, both, have galvanized governments and industry to invest.

Just as the internet has extended the reach of our thoughts so too robots will extend the reach of our hands. The early fruits of this can be seen in the fields of surgery and space exploration, of bomb disposal and nuclear reactor maintenance. These are tasks that robots can do better or more safely than people.

At the turn of the millennium the founders of OC Robotics, Rob Buckingham and Andrew Graham, made the decision to return to robotics. We took our ideas to the investment community and sold equity in order to pursue our dreams.

“Reaching the unreachable” encapsulates both the essence of our snake-arm robot technology and the commercial challenge of creating new markets and educating potential customers.

Our technology asks a simple question: If you had a robot that was able to work in confined spaces how would it change your job? What are the implications for health and safety? How would it change the design of future nuclear plant or aircraft? Can we maintain our utilities without digging up the roads? Can we keep an aging fleet of nuclear reactors operational before the new generation of reactors come on line? Does incision-less surgery become feasible?

We know some of the answers: snake-arm robots can help save lives, they can save time and make money, they can help reduce CO₂ emissions.
